WebSpondylolysis is an osseous defect found in both symptomatic and asymptomatic individuals. It predisposes to pathologic intervertebral subluxation or spondylolisthesis, most commonly occurring at the L5-S1 level. The pars defects are thought to represent chronic stress related injuries.
