The d3 can be made to work if you are using new pistons anyway. Since the whole issue is compression, the d3 might even be a little easier to build the motor if you are using pump gas.

It is a safe bet to get a pushrod checker and put the heads on and the cam and lifters in then use the pushrod checker tool to get the proper lenght of your pushrods.
